About A Fairmont hotel now, the Banff Springs started out as a Canadian Pacific Railway hotel, the design of many in a chain across Canada. It symbolizes the luxury of train travel in the early 1900's, and rises like a castle out of the rocks and trees near Banff.
Actual exposure was 2sec. with the camera resting on the railing of a lookout platform.

Very nice view on a well lighted building! Very impressive... wow, a hotel? I bet there is a interior golf court inside too hahahaha.... kidding about its amazing size! You can easily be lost inside that, very nice view in night!

Hi Art, thanks for the comment! Actually the 2 sec. exposure wasn't really enough, I had to bring it out quite a bit in post processing, but that's as long an exposure as my camera will allow, even on manual.
Dave.

It surely has atmosphere and flair in the night, Dave. It reminds me of some similar gigantic and luxurious hotels around here. The lighting did well for preserving that atmosphere. It makes it look "mythical" somehow by keeping contrast in not as high regions.

BTW, I tried to raise contrast by adjusting levels. I think that the flair of luxury is still present but that "mythical" element is not as strong then. (Attachment)

Hi Dave. You did well with this long exposure and no tripod my friend. I love the subtle tones to this excellent night study and the depth of the shot. What an incredibly large hotel. Great stuff Dave....My very best wishes to you as always.....Ray
