I love the contrast between the two young women. The one in the background is more reserved, nervous, shy...she's biting her lip. She is also wearing the dark shirt with her arms covered. The one in the foreground is wearing the light colored clothing with her arms showing and a self assured look. She's more confident and ready.
It could even be the same lady, just the inside is unsure. We hide the inside and show the brave face to the world. We all have a little fear and darkness inside?
