This photo is dedicated to Ali Al Katib,my class mate, and my life friend whom I lost contact with, because he immigrated to the states in 1990. He was the torch that sparks photography in my life seriously during our secondary school study in 1973.during that year he made a photo just like this using a medium format camera, and since that time I was eager to shot the same photo, and was unable or reluctant to do, until the beginning of this year when I stood in front of the subject he used to do his photo, and I took advantage of that opportunity, and finally done the shot,at that time he refuses to tell me what the subject was,and at this time I will not tell what the subject is,it is not a coincidence that after I had done the shot with just one month, I had recontacted him again through the net. Thank you Ali ,for every thing,I know you are watching.
Ali,the one who does not thanks people, does not thank God. I thank God for let me knowing you at that time, when you are Al Katib, and I was Salem, and I thank you ,as a thanks to God,too. best wishes of health and happiness to you,and yours, Saad Salem.
How do I begin to thank you for being such a wonderful friend? There are no words to express the gratitude I feel for having you and your family in my life. No matter how often we speak or see each other and no matter how far the distance is between us, the bond that we have is so strong nothing can deter it. I feel so lucky that somewhere along the way, I became your friend and you mine, I feel so fortunate to be blessed with someone so caring and compassionate in my life, and that has given me extra confidence in everything I do. A true friend like you who makes life so special, stays around forever, continues to be a source of comfort, and an inspiration to become all that I can be is something life offers to very few. Every time I see your art work I find outstanding talent and your insightful wisdom and I remain eternally grateful for the memories we have and thankful for the wonderful ones we continue to make. I absolutely adore sharing my ideas with you, and thank you again for taking such a genuine interest in me, and appreciating all the things I do. Forever treasuring the friendship you have shown me each and every day! Ali
you don't know Sir,I myself thinks that I will never see Ali again in these circumstances, yes I do mail him,but that is not meeting him,I used to spend all my day with him,and the first time in my life ever to visit a friend just to see him,was to Ali,he done his study at Baghdad, and i have done my college at Mosul,so I cut the 400km just to see him,and that was in 1981. my best regards, Saad.
My boyhood friend was Bobby Mack. He lived down the street from me in Gary, Indiana. I met him once the past 45 years... I think I will never meet him again in this life. For you and Ali... a big smile from Illinois. (L-uh-noy) (just saying so ya get it correct when ya visit)
