About Much of what I do is product photography but even the mundane shot of a length of chain can thrill me when it comes out good.

Product photography can be fun!! This is nice, but I think just a bit more DOF would help. My eye keeps being drawn to the upper area as it is brighter than the sharp part on the lower. I think a little more highlights would benefit to emphasize the shape, and metallic nature of the chain. Just my thoughts. I do a bit of product photography, but mostly portraits so take my advice with a grain of salt. Another thought is to place the chain so it leads our eyes from left to right, perhaps curving from lower left to upper right. There are a zillion ways you could shoot this. Would be a great exercise in light and composition.
