Thanks Thilo,
I enjoyed working on this set of images. This one was one of my favourites of about 50 that I took that day of this train and surrounding area.

Hi Andre,

I really love the geometry part here, the format of the picture and the DOF work. Timeless classic.

Take care, Thilo

Thanks for the great comment on this one Jon.
I think this is my favourite of the ones I shot that day too. One of the reasons I did a little selective desat on the image is because I had a kind of un-natural blue glowing line all the way down the tracks. The reddish wheel and the orangish flat cars were also a little too bright IMO. Once I toned them down a bit and got rid of the blue lines on the tracks, it all seemed to come together for me. Personally, I didn't pay a lot of attention to the horizontal path just before the train. But, now that you mention it, I can't take my eyes off it. I think it does create some kind of balance that helps the image. I definitely didn't plan it though.
Thanks again.

I believe it is the space between the front of the line of cars and the edge of the frame that makes this image seem more three dimensional than the last one (with the curving track).

Interesting...

This is the best of the three, imho. I think given the time of year, you could get away without the selective desaturation and still have the strong contrast of train vs background. Lots of depth, thanks to the converging parallel lines and the DOF, plus good framing on the left to keep everything focussed. Strangely, I find the pathway crossing from left to right to be a very strong element - my eye started there, then moved to the train, then followed the line all the way out the back.

Thanks again Ray.
Everyone loves those old trains! They do make great subjects. Especially when standing still.

I love the tones of this series my dear Andre. The mustard yellow breaks up the more sombre tones of the track and trees and provides an excellent contrast yet again. A great perspective for the shot my friend, well done. My very best wishes to you as always......Ray

Thanks for the nice comment and visit Ali.
I think the fascination with all things mechanical goes back a long way into my childhood. The bigger, the more exciting. :)

Thanks again Dave.
I think I mentioned to Ray. I was thinking that one of the good things about the last two posts is the way the colour of the background trees blends in so nicely with the gravel on the tracks and the railway ties.
I'm really pleased with the last two.
Thanks again.

Dear Andre!
Its so rare in my country to find the people who like to photographing the railway system and its elements. Perfect shot with a wonderful desaturation. Good focus and nice composition.
Be well.
