It was a good light and atmosphere for a shot, Maryanne, and it is also captured well enough for conveying that atmosphere too. The composition does make the depth and the distane feelable. Perhaps the left edge is not needed, though. (Attachment.) The shadows of the trees and the growing visual density of them toward the depth add a good amoubt of three-dimensionality. The available details are also there and the deeper colors tell much about the time of the day.
What it neede was more contrast. Not much more additional contrast, since then the diffuse light could suffer, but a bot more for underlining the contours of the shadows and the trunks. But under such conditions it is always hard to do that.

The small spot in the foreground is a little distracting and ruins, what in essence is a beautifully composed photo. ;)
