nice use of vertical and horizontal lines here. the inclusion of the lady is a master touch indeed.
a small nit pick - the out of focus steps in the immediate foreground is little bit distracting IMO.

I wouldn't automatically have thought of a beggar, more of a Tolkein character for me. The mono conversion is, as usual, a strong point of the image, especially bringing out the strong stonework.
