About A shot made in the peaceful garden surrounding the castle that once was the home of Josephine de Beauharnais and Napoleon Bonaparte.
Malmaison became one of the most visited and copied houses of the time, but the grounds were famous in their own right. The fashion for the English Landscape Garden had reached France in the 1780's. Berthault landscaped 300 choice acres near the river Seine. The rest of the land was planted in vineyards and wheat fields. Napoleon later added the woods of Butard to the estate bringing the whole to 4,500 acres. Josephine had landscape and woods at Malmaison, together with a bevy of swans. She went a step further, because she loved flowers she gathered all that was rare and beautiful like wonderfully coloured violas and particularly shaped tulips. The British Navy even issued safe conducts for her flowers. Most of all Josephine loved roses. She had almost every know species growing in her gardens. Her gardeners also created new ones.
Particularly fertile grounds for emperors, artists and gardeners.

I found the uploaded quality (colours and sharpness) somewhat disappointing compared to the original raw after viewing the UF display.
I tried to do somewhat better in an upload test.
However with Picasa´s export 95% quality (here it is 80%) and smaller size (1024 p. instead of 1600 p.over here) still staying under the 400KB size,
it turned out to be even of less quality as perceived by my UF friends. So the test was completed and useful. I could register 50 visits of different IP's with and without comments. The average rating was 6.25 out of 4. So also I got a clear quantification to be compared with the first (remaining) upload, which is still open for comments and further rating.

I pursue with the best I could get out of my original raw image of 11,4 MB.
I moved all these comments of the second to the list of my first posting.
I thank all 50 visitors of the now deleted second posting and my best UF friends for the constructive comments and advice.

Hi Nicki, thanks a lot for your comparison and advice. I'm going to suppress this second picture and I will move your and other comments to the first posting. I keep it like it is, have to live with the encountered jpg limits. I continue to foster my raw 11,4 MB version :-)
gros bisous,
Paul

Hi Hussam,
thanks for your view. I know you are a good photographer. Not many uploads but amazing quality I still remember many of your captures. Do you notice some brighter colours compared to the version of yesterday. I still believe that the reduction from raw to jpeg staying under 400KB decreased resolution (and sharpness). Maybe the subject with many flower and colour details doesn´t allow to preserve it all.

And next to the above comments I also add
the following comments of my friends for my second posting of the same image with slightly inferior upload parameters.
I simply keep the first image and such preserved all comments in sandwiched :-) form

Hi Srna what is more attractive the simple, effective and beautiful or the complex, dispersive and ugly? :-) You are so right and your analysis and appreciation is also so much appreciated by me. Thank you my dear friend,
tight hugs,
Paul

Hartelijke groet,
Paul
