About	This male has been allowed to remain with the herd because he was no competition to the dominate male. He is getting big enough and will be showing interest in the females soon. Come rut this fall and the dominate male will run him away from the females.

Fascinating Darryl - your commentary makes a big difference to a photograph. For those who don't know, in the US these deer are called "Elk", whereas in Britain and Northern Eurpoe they are known as "Red Deer". Congrats on a fine picture.

BTW, this young stag has a lot to learn, haha!
