Great shot Saad. Here in this part of the world they have what they call "the dollar dance" if you wanna dance with groom or bride you have to give them money.

Hey Brigitte, Well, I have no idea why rice represents fertality as well :P But if they were throwing money in Poland, then for sure much more accidental guests would appear in church for sure ;) Hehe, kidding ;D
Have a great day too! Ania

usually the kids and some women threw candies, and green leaves of some evergreen bush that I forgot its name, over the heads, In my country no one threw wheat on the floor, they consider it a wast of Gods gift, and it is customarily forbidden to pass over the wheat by shoes, my best regards, Saad.

Yes, Ania... here in the US rice is sometimes thrown too, to wish the couple fertility (don't ask me why rice represents fertility... I would think rats would be a better choice as they breed like crazy - lol. As far as the custom being Polish... lol, I did not make it up, it is on Google... just search for "throwing money bride groom polish"... several places talk about it. Have a wonderful day :-)

I have done it Ray, it is thrown over the bride and grooms heads, and it falls on the floor, the kids usually or those who conducting music are those who will pick it ,in this wedding as if it was legally to those who arrange the marriage, my best regards, Saad.

I have only come accross this in Cyprus and Turkey. I think sometimes they even pin the money to the bride's dress but that might be another country Saad my friend. What an interesting topic you have raised. Well done for today's most unusual posting, love it. Well done my good friend.......All the best......Ray

This is not the usual custom in the UK or Australia either, but I have heard of it being done at marriages between families from India and Pakistan, where they pin the notes the clothing. I'm just glad I've never had to waer trousers and shoes like this guy's wearing, looks like he's escaped from a 1970s disco! Regards, Gary

Hi Saad, that a is very interesting shot. I am sorry but I can't help you with regards to where the custom started and why because I have never heard of it either. I do find it interesting though, that the money is US currency, I would have expected something else in Turkey. I also see that they are 1-dollar bills, so it is clear to me that the economy isn't so good their either. That being said, I wish this newlywed couple many blessings and happiness in their life... money isn't everything afterall. :-)
