Keith,
Well, I know it. I have had a couple of Blue Heelers in the past and they will herd anything you want.
Heck, I had to pull one off of the kids once, because he wanted to herd them all of the time. Dogs are a full time job, no matter what the breed!
I have shared my house with Redbones, Heelers, Pit Bulls and the American Staffordshire Terrier (Pit Bull) was the best dog I ever owned. He was a good ol' pal to say the least! I know there are a lot of Pit haters out there, but he was the only puppy that would do anything that I told him to do!
When I say puppy, he was 9 months old and weighted in at 94 pounds. Lean and mean! His Daddy was 120 pounds and stood 6' tall. I know that for a fact, because when I went to pick up BC, (for Big and Cudlely), Apollo (his daddy) had to check me out.
The only Albino Pit I have ever seen and the biggest. He placed his paws over my shoulders and looked me straight in the face. He could have ate my face off in one bite!
I trained BC to attack and he never broke my skin ever. I raised him with a Blue Heeler and everyone told me it was impossible! "News Flash" it worked!
That ol' heeler would get on BC's back and bite the heck out of his ears. Then BC would get up and chase that heeler across the back yard, tumble him about 3 times and come up with his life killing jaws around the heeler’s neck with out a mark and laugh, and then let him go!
This goes out to all you Pit hater's,
Marty

Use Labs and Retrievers here as well. Collies more for sheep. Blue Heelers for cattle. Hunterways in NZ for sheep as well. Im guessing the wings were clipped. May not have been though as im sure the ducks and the dogs were mates. I saw them have a yarn together after the show :)) Keith

Keith,
LMAO, Pointers are good bird dogs when you’re in the field, but if you can't see a duck coming down on a pond and blow it out of the sky with a shotgun something is very wrong!
We use Lab's around these parts to retrieve ducks?
I see you use "Border Collies", which are cattle dogs around here to round up ducks that have their wings cut? What's up with that?
I don't know if I will ever understand you folks, but I still love you...
Marty

Keith,
What the heck? I'm not too sure about you folks over there?
I never heard of rounding up ducks. The only duck dogs we have over here is once you shoot the duck and it's dead in the freezing cold water, you send your dog to go and get it for dinner!
We raise cattle around these parts not fowl? What's wrong with you people? Black Angus is well worth herding and maybe even a few Herford’s, but ducks? You have to be out of your minds... hehehe
Although, I must admit we had a couple of crazy SOB's around here that tried to raise a herd of Emu's! They went to jail after taking a baseball bat to kill those nasty animals, because they couldn't afford to feed them. Hey, don't get me wrong, as they were from Oklahoma and just ended up here and I didn't let them in this state!
I'm not sure what you and Jac are taking over there, but if you could send me a sample I would love to try it! I'll bet you guys have more on the ball than the guys in Oklahoma, but not much? ;)
All of my Love old friend,
Marty

A wonderful sight my dear Keith and how ingenious, duckdogs, who'd of thought it possible. Great shot my friend but can the dogs fly if the ducks take off I wonder. All the best to you mate and seeing Gary's comment and being a totally disinterested Scot.....come on you Aussies.....Ray

haha it certainly would Gary. I felt they were all good friends from doing a lot of shows. Went through big pipes as well. Yes it does start and Lee is out already. I think they will still take some beating. Should be good series. Cheers. Keith

Great to hear Sam is doing better :). So happy to see you back. The dogs rounded the ducks up and put them in a small cage. Like a cat cage. Also chased them through tunnels. Ducks and dogs looked like friends. Big hugs. Me

Without the handler in the frame it would look like those ducks'd be dinner! There's a guy here in Wales that does this on the agricultural show circuit. I thought he was a one-off, but it now looks like it's an internationally recognised sport. They should have test matches. Speaking of which, the first ashes match starts in a couple of days, and here in Wales for the first time. C'mon Aussie.. Regards, Gary
