Oh well, Shirley... Same with me, it seems. I never really have all necessary things with me when I go out for some session. Even when I "plan" it carefully there will be always something that I should take but left at home. Either some lense is missing or some magazine or something else.
But there is also something good in all that. One has then to invent workarounds and find improvisations that somehow overcome the limitations of the available gear - to a good extend at least. And so the skills get better and better.
As about the duck... In this case I think that the image would be exactly as good with or without it. Just clone it off and the image is still the same and very good too.
Sometimes sweet symoathetic ducks are not so important for good photography, that is. ;-)

Thank you so much for your fine comments, Rick. I only wish I'd had a polarizer to fit my new lens (I bought one yesterday...), which would have helped with the glare. It was an overcast day, which gave a nice even exposure for most things. This was a pretty quick 'grab' since I didn't know how long that duck would stay put.:)

Oh, I enjoy the view too, very much so, Shirley! The very vivid voloring if the plants stands in good contrast with the well captured textures of the water surfaces. A bit less exposure for avoidance of the glares on some areas could do good, like for example on the water itself or much mire the leaves of the plant on the upper right quarter of the image - but as it is now it also has its charms since the light seems to fall uniformly on the scene and the glares support that well.
The composition is also quite good and very fresh in a way. The good sense for depth doesn't dominate the whole scene as "hard and rough" but it rather lets it evolve in a very natural, seamless way. I could only say that the top could perhaps be omitted and some more of the bottom could be included - but only as far as to not disturb the leaves of that plant at the upper right corner.
