for a moment i thought that it was an autoportrait, and was about to ask you to correct the data about the camera used for this shot! (i see he has a Canon, and you have a Nikon).
you are mentioning that there was a thick glass between you two, and despite that you managed to generate those great details- my comoplements for that.
