Good, Matt, but why don't you try a smaller aperture to increase the DOF. Fill flash should give you enough light to use a reasonably fast shutter, and you might like the effect. I try to shoot macros in at least F11.

It's interesting and there is nothing wrong with preferring the flower over the fly. It's called making choices for yourself. Giuseppe is correct, a marked increase in F stops would have yielded a greater DOF.

Good but you have had to use at lest f12 to get a decent dof. Good colors and composition

Subha I actually do not own a Canon 100mm 2.8 Macro I just used my friend's one day and took some of these pictures. If I do get to borrow it again or own my own I will sure take some fly pictures. I am although looking into getting a Sigma 105mm 2.8 Macro for my Elan 7e. Thanks again. -Matt

well.. the fly is out of focus.. well done.. next time post an image of a fly in focus.. i would like to see the performance of your 100 2.8F lens..
