Ahh, someone who doesn't like their trees upside down ! I thought of presenting it that way myself but I really wanted to include the duck and his wake in the frame.
I think your interpretation is ok, but I prefer the subtle tonal variations in my version based on what I "saw" at the time.
I have no problem with you showing your own interpretation of the image - go for it !
