Location City -  Miles City by day... Seatonville by heart
State -  WISHING IT WERE ILLINOIS
Country - United States   United States
About It was great!! NOT COOKED perfectly. I had a wee loaf of fresh bread, butter, salad (greens, pickled beets, hot peppers, pickled herring, cottage cheese, blue cheese dressing)a bowl of hamburger-mac tomato puree based soup, a plate of fettuccini Alfredo, hash browns, ONE beer, a complimentary rainbow sherbet and a hunk of New York strip steak that just melted in my mouth... it was a near perfect dinner. Only problem was... I ate it alone. I had no company. As much fun as it has been here in Montana... I cannot do this again. I have resolved to make my mark this year on the Northern Cheyenne reservation... then pack my truck and go back home to Illinois, the land of deep, dark dirt and green fields. My time in Montana has been precious... but my roots are deep. I do not like eating alone. The $18.75 Yank I paid for this does not balance out the strain of my needing to be back in Illinois.

Thanks, man... (nice pic added!)... I had a great day today. We are opening the new week off of homecoming and Native American week combined. I went about after my classes and other techers were telling me how terrible the day was... and I could only listen and nod... truth be told... I had a brilliant day today. My students were interested... and I gave them an earful of Plato and Carbon Leaf... and made it interesting. George, I have something I would like to share wiff ya. My personal email is: kidney_pie@hotmail.com. Send me your email... and I will tell ya something that happened today... and I think you would like it.

This is a real tough call to make. Time on the rez moves at a much slower rate than elsewhere. You really need about four years of the white man's time to see the impact of your work. I've seen folks thrive in this environment and I've seen them barely survive. You have to decide for yourself, but ultimatley you must put your "mission" ahead of your personal needs if you really want to give these kids your very best. My best wishes go with you Jim.
