Hello Harry, I guess you made our country a bit older and therefore more noble, thanks ;) It is old wall from middle-ages indeed. And thanks to its perfect location on the hill and by the river I have no doubt that it might have been used even in VII century as a good defence point. However, Slavic people didn't make brick buildings that time yet :) The Wawel Castle was built first in XI century although just some pieces are left from those times. The fortification remains were built together with castle of course but first ones were made from dirt and wood. Later brick walls were built but not much from before XIII century was saved (although there is one tower from XII century saved). The main wall was built in XIII and XIV century and was expanded in XV.
