Doh, I'm stupid, now I've noticed that you HAVE done the crop in 'Monstrous'.

Well I'm not too much into flower shots, but one suggestion I would make here is using a different background, especially with this light and DOF. The flower is lost in there, it blends into the background; the white should be pure and shiny as in toothpaste commercials, it should stand out from the background (IMO anyway). Alternatively, you could try a crop where the reddish-pinkish bit would take a more dominant role, with the white petals as the only background.

After reading your dissertation in forum - with only 1 point - thought I'd better comment and help you along! Like this one - looks like an angel/devil in the centre. I think that would have made a better image by itself! Anyways I would have cloned out some of the distracting bits in the background! Regards!

Bjorn: This is an interesting shot. The small part (of the flower's stamen?) in the foreground looks like a weird little winged creature being supported by the big host flower behind. I love your lighting here. I do think the focus isn't quite sharp enough, especially as concerns the little creature. The fact that the focus falls off on the white flower is OK, serves to emphasize the focus where (I think) it should be. The composition is also a bit too symmetric, I think. Nice effort!
