Hello Harry....!!!!
wow...thank you for your comment , indeed |
Maybe some old Roman Emperor could have walked through this Park ;-)
anyway I add here further info about this wonderful park
Already belonging to the Palazzo Querini-Capra, the park was sold to the City after the war. It 'surely the most impressive and vast park of Vicenza, a beautiful and peaceful green oasis in the heart of the city. The park, surrounded by a long wallthat runs along the Bacchiglione is a wide clearing, crossed by an avenue lined with statues of the eighteenth century. Some of them are by famous artists, such asMarinali, the Gai and Putti. At the end of the avenue, a wooden bridge leading to asmall island on which round - in 1820 - the architect Antonio Piovene built thedelightful, elegant Ionic temple. On the left stands a large grove of locust trees and plane trees. Pines, cedars of Lebanon and the bell tower of the Church of SantaMaria in Araceli form the background to close the park to the east. Ciao amico Harry !
