I agree that the photoshop work on this one is a little rough. As Jaime said, it does take some getting used to. Would also like to see a little more contrast which can be achieved either in photoshop or perhaps in your lighting. You also may want to try tighter crops. There is also a red tint to her skin tones. This has been the case for me also with a coolpix 800 and 4500. A lot of indoor pics i take have the reddish color on the skin. I usually remove it in ps with color balance moving the slider closer to cyan from the red, and it normally corrects the problem. Nice shot though.

A good effort Alex, the PS work is a little rough but it takes quite a bit of getting used to. A not too hard way to select the background in this image is with your Magic Wand and once you have most of the background use Select > Modify Expand > 1 and then use Select > Feather 2 that should eliminate most of the blur.
