This small bird is a Brown Thornbill, found in woodlands in eastern Australia. I loved the piercing, indignant, 'why are you holding me?' eyes, and the details of the forehead feathers. This bird was caught as part of a study monitoring species abundance at a site on Phillip Island, Victoria. We measure, weigh, band and release all birds. My best bird-in-the-hand photo so far...
