Simmering sun, and very hot afternoon. Shot intentionally underexposed, with plastic orange filter. Hope you feel how hot is was. Don't look into the sun long! Retinal damage may occur!!!Opinions pls??
Very good work Eric. The colours are excellent. Good choice of filter. I have to agree with Ursulas comment regarding the horizon. Happens to me all the time, less now that I take my time to make sure it is level. Regarding my last shot unfortunatley I did not record the shutter speed. It was approximetly 1/4 sec at f/16.
To Ursula, The uneven horizon was not planned but, the idea was to focus on the power of the sun, how to show it as simmering and hot(it was a hot day) and the coast is curved and not flat. The blur effect in the water was intentional. The curved effect occured as one of 3 exposures, so was planned. I was using a 105 mm short tele, so the area away from focus will look blurry. Also, shooting directly to the sun is dangerous! Have your tried it!Try it with an all manual camera, adjusting your metering, focus, filter, etc and spend about 10 sec. to look at your viewfinder. Thanks for your comments. Eric
I like the picture, the idea, but I find the uneven horizon a bit distracting. Was it intentional? The color of the sky is fantastic, and the definition of the sun. The water to the front, where the red/orange reflections are, looks almost concave, and either a bit too blurry or not blurry enough to make it a very good picture (but that's just one person's opinion :) Good job!
