Sarah, I enjoy so many of your photos. This is just one nice example of your appreciation of nature. I like the softness and the composition in this one. Also thank you so much for so many encouraging and inciteful comments on my photos.
Sarah...How beautiful this is! It fairly shines with light and color! I love the softness. You have a work of art here. Thank you for your kind comments on some of my latest pix. RAnae
Interesting perspective. I'm flopping back and forth between thinking this is too dark and that its just right. I'd like to see a lighter version for comparison, but I think I like the tones you have here.
Thanks for your comments about my "Bee at work" post. I like the 80-400mm VR. I already have the 80-200, so I haven't been tempted to shell out for the new lens.
Regarding tripod, for shot like the bee, or the egret catching the fish (that I think you saw) I use a tripod and a ballhead, but the ballhead isn't tightened down. I use the tripod basically as a panning support. When I do this, I have the VR on. If I use that lens with the ballhead locked down, I turn off the VR. If I remember to take it with me, I also put a bag of rice on the lens to steady it a bit. The one thing I don't like about the lens is the tripod collar. It's not stiff enough and sometimes shakes.
