Phillip. Comments on both photos and then I have to get some work done.

On the color: I do like the black on all sides. I really do like the light quality--although it might be a smidge hot on her face. The low angle bothers me a little for a senior picture. It brings her chin down and adds weight to her face. She's squinting because of the harsh light--two suggestions--a scrim ( a round, white reflector that the light can pass through is easiest? in front to soften and cool the light--or a dark object next to the camera that she can focus on to relax her eyes.

The black and white: The pose is nice and I really like the tilted ladder. She how much more flattering she is with her chin up a little--could even be a hair more. The hay upstages her, dominates the photo and because it's out of focus you have a big blur that is distracting in your foreground. I don't have a solution. This is one you just have to do when you are there. Be observant of all the elements without having to think about them.

Phillip, I like this one more, probably just the composition of it. It has the classic western feel to it. Although I did like the vivid red shirt matched with the hay in your colour shot as well.
