Vivem centos de doidos nesse hospício

E o portão dança já no velho quício,
Dança, e faz entrar mais a toda a hora...
Trazem todos um sonho, um crime, um vício,
E foram reis lá muito longe, outrora...
E em seus rostos de espanto ou de flagício
Não sei que ausência atroz se comemora!
Faz medo e angústia olhá-los bem nos olhos;
E, lá por trás de grades e ferrolhos,
Estoiram de ansiedade desmedida.
- Meu corpo, ó meu hospício de alienados!
Abre-te aos meus desejos enjaulados,
Deixa-os despedaçar a minha vida!

This is a very stark image.
The subject stands emotionless for the camera. His only garment is simple and he is for the most part exposed to the camera for evaluation.
There is no attempt to hide anything from the camera. There is no makeup, flashy poses or filters. He wears no expression to convey a feeling.
He stands in front of tile. The tile reflects light from a single bulb that hangs overhead. The tile does not imply anything about this man. They are cold and without color.
This man challenges me to judge him and learn about him on his terms. He does nothing to attempt to influence me. I can only take him as he is.
Although this image is stark, it is also refreshing.
