I was also a big fan of anime & manga; This image definitly caught my eyes. Use of lighting is best and most true to anime portraits. Took me a long time to browse your portfolio; they are all very inspiring and I leaned a great deal from your wonderful works. Thanks!

Peta,

Aha!!! When I saw the thumbnail of this picture in your portfolio I thought it looked like an anime drawing! You really did a great job of making it look almost drawn and your daughter did a good job of posing and wardrobe! What fun that must have been to take this picture and I do suppose many others were taken at the same time? I do think you pulled off the anime look wonderfully. Congrats!

Best Reguards,
Troy

WOW!!!!! Put this in my favourites, it is superb, everything is great and you have done a good job with PS, I really like the pose too, her finger held like that is perfect for this image, I like the pale skin tone and it adds to the realism as Japnese ladies used to make the faces pale. I think this is so good I have put it in my favourites - Richard.

Thanks all...the original wig she is wearing is the blue, but after I did the green to match her kimono she preferred that look. :) Just obeying her preference.

Jamie the blue is the shadow...not sure how it turned blue!

Great Job Peta!! My son is also a fan of anime..He likes this.
You are quite creative with the coloring. Well done Peta my friend.
New camera hasn't arrived yet. I never even heard of that brand. Only bought it because it was editors choice in PC magazine. By the time I do the "pregnant" photo,,,she will already have the baby!! lol.

Peta; although this portrait is very, very well done IMO, I must admit I don't particularly care for the green tinting-- everything else is great.

When I first saw the thumbnail it looked very much like a cartoon image, I think you could give it a go with PS and turn it into one for fun with great results. What can I say though.. wow, love the choice of green to match the kimono, not sure if it was blue initially but I can see some other color fringe poking through if it was you did a good job hiding it. Only thing I might suggest would be a subtle gradient through the top left side light.

Thanks everyone for the lovely comments.

Stefan, no it was not an intentional pose. My daughter just knows how to do the anime look I guess. She's been a fan for years.

Jim, I did this to the white background, of course there are a lot of other different ways to go about it, but this just came to mind.

Becky, her skin just began to look like that with my PS playing. :)

The hair color for sure, but the way her face is lit. The white background makes me think of a cartoon page. It is a funny pose, is it a recreation of a particular image?

Stefan's onto something with the "anime" -- although maybe that's more the hairstyle than photographic style. I like everything about this expept the white empty space which pulls my eye away from your model's face. Otherwise, all I can say is that I hope that green's not "Manic Panic!"

The treatment is very anime - your daughter must be happy to have this one!

Peta, I like the light in this. Good color. I think I know of the Japanese anime stuff, what I see alot of now is my son's Yu~Gi~something, stuff is going a little fast now of days. Just give me back The old Looney Tunes! Great shot Peta!

This is both eye catching and unique. Being a casual fan of anime, I absolutely love the idea. The soft look makes the portrait even more like a drawing, which is very appropriate. Her skin is very soft too - was it worked over in PS or is it a fortunate byproduct of the lighting?

Another well softened image, the colors and the lighting are good, this green tone is surreal, but very beautiful, I like her expression and the gesture of the hand, great work with a great camera! ;) Bye Max

PS: thank you for you explanation about Rei

This is my oldest daughter who loves Japanese anime, Rei is a character from Evangelion, her hair is usually shown as blue in the series.
