Brilliant composition - it reminds me of the painting of dancers by Vettriano. It perfectly represents the nice family sea-side visit. Faultless. Best wishes, Jonathan

Hi Kriss, thank you for your encouraging comments! Yes, I prefer the cropped version of this image too but only because the reflection isn't so clear........I really enjoy your seaside photos! Regards, Dana

Great composition, I like how everyone is doing something different. Would I be greedy to want the full reflection of the girl in the foreground?.....maybe....Good job!

I like the Englishness about this photo. Summer is just starting up here (Sydney) and all the spectacular beaches are ramping up for the busy season, but there is something enjoyably understated about this scene. It's not about big waves, lifeguards and surfers but kids quietly puddling about enjoying themselves in a relaxing environment. (That's not to say I'd swap Coogee or Cronulla for Littlehampton all year round, but I miss the English seaside when I'm away for the summer). I like your ensemble of characters and reflections, and the low vantage point adds to the intimacy of the scene. I much prefer the original version to the vertical alternative you posted. If I were allowed to change anything it would be to add a polarising filter to darken the sky but I guess that would be trying to make it look like somewhere it's not.

I'm seeing a lot of fresh "looks" in your portfolio. You certainly have a different way, a distinct syle, especially in this photograph, so don't change, don't be influenced by others' works, because you have your own.

What a nice moment. I can see by your portfolio that you have a very nice eye for the simple yet amazing things in life. This is clearly one of those, and the moment is amazingly captured. I really enjoy the colors, subtle, and not unrealistic like some outdoor shots, and the pink plays off the blue perfectly. I definately prefer the composition without the relection, but I might have like it if the girl in the foreground was even closer and more prodominate, and the DOF was shortened so that the other people were fuzzier. I think this would have given the same mood and setting, but really isolates her as a explorer whom isnt concerned with who else is there, but what is in her hand.
I did a quick PS cut, but nothing beats the true camera technique. You have a very nice portfolio, and its always nice to see Amatuer enthusiests, like myself, whom put so much into their work. Please feel free to share with me, you seem to have fun with photography, and thats what I want to do.

I prefer this landscape version. I tried also to make some experiments on it (for instance removing people), but my wife stopped me!!! She likes the image as is and I agree with her, of course, I want to have dinner this evening... ;) Besides to be a nice and calm scene, I like it because it shows the child's curiosity and I know that curiosity means intelligence! Obviously I'm very curious!!! :))) Bye Max

The caption, Inspection, is apt. It drags the viewer into the photo for a closer inspection. And then viewer and subjects in the photograph are all doing the same thing--inspecting! Interesting idea!
