ORATORY OF SANTA CATERINA History and actuall aspect of the relics
Following the street we meet, on the left, the relics of the Oratory of Santa Caterina, destroyed in the air raid of 26 and 27 august 1944. Many masterpiece was fortunately saved:
a wood where is represented Sant'Anna che regge la Vergine ed il Figlio , that was transported in the Church of Santa Maria of Nazareth where is also today; the painting represented Santa Caterina, San Giovanni Battista e San Nicolò , that is in very bad conditions; the painting represented Il martirio di Santa Caterina that represented the Saint that pray to the sky, beyond her rears break the toothed wheel; and under her run away estonished the torturers, while the little angels around her are happy; the Big Christ in painting wood and orned in the body and in the terminal parts of the arms; The Statue of Santa Caterina during the martirius, was conserved in the Church of San Pietro in Vincoli, and is come back to the oratory in 1998, and you can see it from the street.
