Perhaps it's from the scan, but the upper right blowout is distracting. Would it have been possible to move to your right to give his left temple a backdrop? Or would that have added more of the red shirt on the left?
His face is nicely illuminated. Did you add fill-flash or was there a reflected surface nearby? It has a slightly red tint which warms his face.
BTW, I LOVE the ladyslipper macro shot. Very pretty.
