The fog/cloud makes this a little different with rich, saturated colors. Very nice.
I also had a brief career at China Lake, John. A local lab had a contract and was desperate for warm bodies. I was making various physical tests on solid rocket propellants, a subject with which I was not too familiar. That unfamiliarity has been maintained to this day.

The white patch at lower right is a puddle; it was a damp, cold day. As for the distraction of the car on the road, isn't that what roads are for? It didn't bother me enough to paint it out with Photoshop, although I did think about zapping the puddle! What you see here is pretty much what came out of the camera, which is true of most of my photos, to a fault, probably.

Great capture, John. You recorded quite a wide range of tones without blowing out the highlights in the fog. Good placement of the road and stripe. I think the car gives a good sense of scale. The white patch at the lower right is a little distracting. Is it sand, or a reflection in a puddle, or...?

Nice image John. composed very nicely. I like the rich brick red clay color and the fog tops it off for a GREAT shot. The auto did not really bother me. It stopped me at the heart of the pic. Good work
