About This started out as an hazy washed out flat photo due somewhat to the fact that there was a lot of haze in the valley because of a fire going on. The image was cropped somewhat and the colors were modified in PS using a 'curves' adjustment layer, most changes were made to the 'blue' channel.

Ray I like almost all of your photographs, but this one doesn't work for me . The reason is I don't feel anything looking at it. The colors don't coincide with the scene. Yosemite has grandeur, magesty, it is a spiritual place which doesn't happen here in your image. I love Yosemite, took the workshop with Ansel Adams in 1975, it is my personal spiritual church. Go back and do more.

I think this is more true to the "feel" rather than the literal interpretation. I put more value in the feel for the image. The colors seem to delineate each and every experience within the frame, from the trees to the water and that great big rock. I've often wondered why we make the exposure when it's not the intended result and we know it. But when we have the opportunity now, especially with the technology allowing us to be more expressive, I think we owe it to ourselves to make these "adjustments" in order to communicate more eloquently. This is a fine result.

Thanks for your comments. Here is the Original, as you can see the color is washed out and flat, thats one of the reasons i tried to do something with it. I think the manipulated version is a much better photo, although some purists may not like manipulation of landscapes. However, I believe that the very act of taking a picture of something abstracts it, if nothing else, turns it from 3 dimensional to flat, from there on whatever we do is just our interpertation.
