About Here it is. From the prototype Braids in Her Hair, this is the first somewhat sucessful attemp. There is no PS. This was all done in the darkroom. Your comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Amazing what you have done in PS and in the darkroom.
This affect gives off a nostalgic look. Something you might see on a old Coke advertisement sign.
Good Job

Sand in the hand is there ?
Its just too hard to tell...selective toning may well help.
I dislike the grain but then thats what you get with 800 iso.
Great Dodging for the vignette.but if you want the effect faster simply make two prints one slightly smaller than the other and cut out the desired parts of the photo then place onto glass above the space for the second paper then expose.

on a special note to double expose in a enlarger this method also works.as do cokin filters in a meopta but thats another story.

After glancing at your portefolio...

This little one is clearly your...

Favourite subject!

And as such it is fitting that you applied the...

extra effort!

You have done well...

and the model will be proud...

when she is handed this print...

with a red silken ribbon & bow around it!

I like the grain, and I do like the way she is vignetted, but I kind of feel like it should be one effect or the other (unless, of course, the background is too busy with people or a boom box or something) If the background is just natural (beach, rock formations, ocean, etc...) I think it would look spectacular to have the entire shot showing with the grain. Or, at least show a little more background, like a traditional oval shaped vignette maybe? I guess, if there's going to be a slight outline around the subject I feel like I want to see just a touch more.
Beautiful pose, great expression and perfect composition!

You have been having fun Lexie, no wonder you've been quiet lately. A very good effort for the darkroom! I like the grain its rather speccy and its a very curious shot, I wonder what has her so fascinated.

P.S. - Congratulations on a very successful experiment! I feel you've achieved an almost exact duplicate of what you created in PS. It must feel so rewarding to go the do-it-yourself route!

I can't comment on your developing techniques as I sadly have no experience developing my own photographs. I've been looking at this piece for awhile and I'm still not sure whether I like the grain. On the one hand, it's very stylistic and unique and gives a painterly feel to the photo. On the other, I feel the rough grain doesn't flow well with the soft outlines around the subject. Aside from that, it's a very nice photo; almost statuesque. I love all the detail you've captured in her hair!

I like the effect of the added grain. The pose is precious and natural. I KNOW and appreciate how much work this was in the darkroom. Great shot.
