Julien, as you noted at the color version of this photo, there is no more space at the bottom of the scene to extend the photo, without getting clutter into the frame. Well, not without getting up on a ladder for the shot, anyway. I think you're right about the 1 cm off the top, thanks!
I have seen many photos of this place. I even have my own! :-) But I havent ever seen this place photographed in this way! To use the mosaic benches as a twirly diagonal going from bottom left to top right corner where we encounter the subject is a well thought out way to do this. I would have preferred the format to be more rectangular than as it is now. Because I think more space in the bottom would make this diagonal longer and therefore stronger. Maybe it is a good idea to crop a 1cm from the top, as the empty space in the background is a little bit distracting and doesnt add anything, or you could clone out the iragularities in it... dunno. But I'm pretty sure about wanting more space in the bottom part of the photo :-)\
