About Quilt made from hand-dyed fabric by Phyllis Moore (my wife). We wanted to see how it would look displayed on a structure made of elm saplings.

I too quilt, but never include my work in the pictures I show here
Show us more of your wife's work, her quilts deserve the limelight:-)

OK, but how would it look on a background of used recumbent tires? You've got work to do!

The fabric item sits very well on the sapplings. Does not stand out too much or get lost. It is a very nice looking piece by the way. Photographed well also, capture the texture and colors. It appears to be of quality. Harlan, all in all Great stuff!

I like how the geometric shapes and bright color contrast with the natural textured background. Fascinating study.

It looks increadible! The elm sapplings work much like a jewlry setting by showing the colors and textures of the quilt to their best advantage. --Jim

Harlan,

I like the concept but the light seems too harsh - it diminshes rather than enhances the tactile nature of the quilt and the saplings - and they could be oh so touchable...btw if I am not mistaken there are some beautiful pieces of batik fabric in there - did your wife make just the quilt or did she dye her own fabric too?

My Mom quilts. It is a wonderful heritage - unfortunately while I can love, appreciate, and even get excited about the work of others - I have no interest in doing it myself.

It is sad to hear about the bridges. The movie is one of my favorites. And it has the most powerful love scene that I can recall. It is when she grabs the car handle and hesitates. You can feel all her dispair in this single movement. Fantastic.
