Hi Liz:
I think you're right about "soft." My eye accepts the soft focus of the overall scene, but as the subject and central image, I'm searching for more detail in the kitten. It's still a wonderful image. I take it the kitten found a home?
Thanks for the kind 'welcome back.' I originally took a couple of days off from photography to work on another project and watch the baseball playoffs. It's been about three weeks and the project is still unfinished, but it's great to be posting and viewing again! Nice to know I was missed :-) Thanks, Jim.

I love it. Great documentary. And only a few dogs, the golden retriever among them, would go this way to adopt a kitten. It's wonderful what you did with the surround-blur.
