The picture is indeed cool! And I have to agree with Dave. Who cares what points you get. Isn't it more important to get feedback on your photo?

The picture is excellent. As far as the remark by Augusto, that is one of the most bizarre comments I have ever heard. Augusto, lift yourself above that silly rating system, you sound like a goof. You might consider including in your bio, 'please don't rate my pictures if you are not going to give me 35 points'.

I advised you against a number series not because I dislike them but because I had just seen a very good image by a friend of mine get a 4 on Originality on account of that. I do not care for my total Charisma and have recently removed the older 150 images from my Portfolio, loosing all those accumulated points. My one aim in Usefilm is to get a single photo of mine chosen for Photo of the Day. The selection is done by computer and that implies a prefect sequence of maximum ratings. That means that to me a 34 or a 5 rating is the same: not good enough. Yes, I do think that coming after so many top critics who awarded 35 and giving 30 amounts to considering oneself a better judge than they all. I never award less than 30, because if a photo is not worth 30 to me, I will not rate it. So, since you twice spoiled my chances, please keep away from my Portfolio. Thanks beforehand.

Hi Mary,
There was a big trunk on the right that I tried to avoid. A small part of it can be seen in the enclosed original. When I moved myself to the right to get clear of that trunk, I came up with the second image which was not that attractive. Anyway, thank you very much for sharing your idea. Surely, I'll go back, do another study, and look for a breakthrough. Bye
john

Will you please explain to me, why you came onto my "By the window side" that had already received 10 critiques, totalling 350 points and gave it only 30?

John,

Beautiful, I like the arch of the fallen tree against the upper-right corner and wonder what would happen if this were reshot and shifted to the right so that the fallen tree holds the main arch and that small branch takes the upper-left corner and if it would be possible by doing this to eliminate the sky in the upper-left.

Excellent colors!! You are having a good fall...

Mary

Great colors, John! IMHO a numbered series is usually not well received.
