Jenny --
This is a beautiful moment you've captured. The look on big sister's face is wonderful. This will be something for them to treasure as they grow up. Did you ever finsh the conversion to b&w? Personally, I like the color in the children but agree the background is a bit distracting. It's still a wonderful moment in their lives.
Thanks for your comments on my Tiger in a Pot, and my apologies for taking so long to reply. I do appreciate your words. Work deadlines seem to be running my time lately--I'll be happy when this project is done and I have more time to play again.
Regards, Anne

The "backdrop" is actually the couch she's sitting on; there was little I could do to adjust the scene as a little one holding a baby needs lots of pillows and propping, and the couch was the only feasible option. (I didn't set up the shot, this was a grab the moment.)
I suspect color itself is distracting here, though, so I'm trying a conversion to black and white in photoshop and will post the results. (So far I like the b&w better than the original.)

I thought I recognised the name Jenny Brown in that helpful comment in reply to my request for help with "Misty Stream." Thank you for that. It's pretty wet underfoot there, but even if I have to take a groundsheet, I'll try your suggestions once the stream starts steaming again. It will have to get a bit colder for that to happen, probably in the New Year (our winters here are fairly mild). Please upload more photos of your beautiful children... How is the B&W portraiture going?

I cannot think why this beautiful photograph remains without a rating and with only one comment. The thoughtful look of the elder sister is well captured--what a beautiful child! And My! what a lot of drak hair the newborn sister has... I presume one took after Mummy and the other after Daddy. I don't normally care for flash, but it's worked very well here, and the exposure is perfect, although that dark underline of shadow is a giveaway. The only thing I don't really care for in the picture is the heavy pattern and colour of the backdrop. Since the flash has helped to give a very sharp "edge" to your main subjects, you might care to use PhotoShop to mask that backdrop area and desaturate the colours or perhaps dual-tone them in some innocuously pale colour. I'm shocked to hear myself recommending PS post processing, but I think it might reduce the weight of that backdrop very nicely...
