Hello Christian, I like this photo very much and the grain in the sky doesn't bother me one bit I must say. I like the composition too. Putting those people on the right side of the tree, shows a strong emotion and in my opinion the upgoing horizon on the left, compensates the balance.

Interesting composition, I like the placement of the people to the edge. You are good with silhouette shots.
The leaning tree bothered me only in that I'd like a bit more space to the left for the tree. Give 'neat image' a try, it does seemj to help with grains.

Thanks Christian for your comment. About G3 settings: sorry, I don?t register them, as I just use automatic functions. Highlights are shown, but I never pay attention to them either ...

I like the low camera angle. I remember the days when grain was not so villified so it doesn't bother me too much. In this case it would probably be better without it, though.

Matej, you are probably right to some point about the disbalance. I noticed it too, but felt that the way the tree comes back into the left part, and with the white puff of cloud, it could perhaps be not too bad.
They are complete strangers shot at a distance. This is a severe crop from a horizontal original. If you could see the original, you'd see that they are actually a father and her daughter posing for a photo taken by the mother ! The original composition included the entire scene, but the mother leans foward in an unnatural way, so I cropped her out. Even more, this was flipped horizontally, because I did not want the "couple" to look like they were moving to the left.

On the other hand, placing them on the other side of the tree would be kind of predictable. While the latter is not always a bad thing, I have to admit that this corner placement does make the photo different and thus works as a special point of interest. Yes. So much for first impressions - this one lasted 10 minutes.
Are we looking at Jean-Sébastien and Mireille, or is it someone else?

Thanks Don, it's better. Was this the Smart Blur Filter ? I wonder if I could do something starting from the scan alltogether.

Try NeatImage to get rid of the grain. My very first impression when I saw this pic was that it felt a bit unbalanced, with both the tree and the people in the same corner, leaving the other side relatively too light. As I said, it was a first impression - sometimes they stick, sometimes they don't, maybe I'll see it differently in the morning (45 minutes past midnight over here right now, I should really go to bed). I'll let you know.

Very nice composition Christian. I like placement of the figures in the picture. I have worked the picture and will let you know what I have done. See if if makes a difference. Don. It took about 30 seconds.
