Hi Antonella, I saw yr question to R Thornton, reg sharpening. There are 5 good ways. 1) use in PS filter> USM, 2) in filter> sharpen> 3)in PS duplicate layer go to filter>other> highlights. Set readius between 0,5 and 2 >OK. Go the layer at right hand top set intensive light> use the slight rule to adjust between 50 and 70 or so percent. 4)shoot in RAW. You can download Capture One RAW software for a free trial. I love this sw. It has an excellent standard sharpening tool. 5) There are individual sharpening tools specifcally for Canon D30. I use method 4) it is the best Although 3 is the next best and does not cost extra money since you have PS I assume. Regards Rob.

I will use this opportunity to answer your questions. I really like the D100. I have two batteries, but seldom need the spare because one battery lasts me all day. I shoot almost always in JPEG FINE mode, which is about 1:4 compression and allows many more pictures on a CF card than RAW or TIFF. To be honest, I cannot tell the difference between the three modes, because the JPEG FINE mode has enough quality to make 11" x 14" prints. I regularly compete against prints made with negatives in contests and exhibitions.
Because of the way it's designed, the basic image out of the D100 almost always requires some sharpening and other adjustments in PhotoShop. But the computer is not as messy as the darkroom! I store my images just as they come out of the camera on CDs. Then, when I want to use an image I bring it up and copy it, leaving the original JPEG undisturbed.
I hope that answers some questions. Good luck!
