I'm so glad this photo landed on Usefilm's front page. I might not have found your portfolio otherwise!
I find your ability to judge night exposure times enviable. Thank you for including this information with your photos as it really helps people like myself who are still struggling to get good long exposure shots. Secondly, I'm very impressed with the creativity of your Nightride photos. I find these new ideas very inspiring and it's what motivates me to keep shooting.
Although I really like the simple lines, clear abstraction and the powerful feeling of motion in Nightride 1 & 2, I think this one is my favourite. The addition of a human body really creates a different scene; I like its intimacy. (By the way, did you keep your hands in the same position on the wheel for 34 minutes?! What discipline!) I also like the placement of the camera - I feel as if I'm half inside and half outside the car, which is intriguing. I wouldn't mind the blurring either; the "bumpy" lines of streetlights look almost festive.
Thanks for sharing this photo. :)

Thanks again for your nice comments!!!
Igor and Ashek: the reason this 34minute exposure didn't cause an overexposed image is that the road from Sounio to Lagonisi isn't lighted in all its parts,so for some time the film was idle.Add to this the exposure lattitude of print films and together they justify the acceptable result.

Is that leather upholstery on your car seats? :-)
Mounting the camera on the side window for a change was a good idea. The new (and very weird) point of view saves the photo from being just a repetition of the previous ones. And we can see you as well! (ehm, were you wearing sunglasses or am I seeing wrong?)
I'll await with curiousity what creative variation you will come up with next time. For real hardcore photography, try placing the camera on the outside ;-)
Congratulations on the EC.

Bianca: :-)))
Eric: if mounted on a stationary surface this Cullman accessory easily holds an slr with a medium weight lens, but on a running car the vibrations are strong and the less the weight the more likely to get a good picture ;-)

-Kostas, Very well done. I love this image because it takes an old idea and gives it an "Umph!" Not a lot of people can take something that's been done over & over again & make it look new. You have! Pat yourself on the back! LOL. The angle of the shot is very exciting. One is both in & out of the car at once. And the "curly" quality of the light streaks gives it that edge that pushes it above all other photos of this type. The lights coming out of the car's dashboard... the driver... the reflections in the rear & side view mirrors... VERY COOL, ALL OF IT!!! Do more! -Bianca
