I focused on a single bud and when I got the picture back, I was surprised with the focus. What I mean was that the focus weaved in and out around the stem.It was my intention to have the dead space to highlight the bud popping out of nowhere! Comments appreciated
Yes, a bad scanner not only robs some quality from a good photo but can also adds some unwanted elements as well! The scanner has to be well cleaned and dusted before use! Otherwise tidy up, e.g. with PhotoShop, in the 'puter.
I love this photo though, grains and all. But I would just crop off the little twig at the lower righthand corner. :)
I agree with you on the film. I switched to kodak supra 100 and was absolutely amazed with the results. Now if I could only compose a good shot like this one. Later my friend,
The "gunk" is not on the original, I expect that this is because of the scanner. I should get away from using 800 asa and work on a single subject project i.e. daylight flower hunt!
way too grainy. probably the high speed film. Use lower speed film like (100 asa if its print or velvia if you are going the slide way) when you go on your next floral hunt. It also looks a little dusty. Check if your lens/filters are gunky. The bud is really sharp, but there is too much dead space around it. A crop should work.
