About I would love some feedback on the composition and whether it was a mistake to chop off his head The goal was to make him anonymous.

The face is unimportant.
The message is.

I am glad that you made the composition this way. Even though WE see the soldiers as individuals, I think the government sees them as faceless numbers willing to do anything they are told. Your image gives me this feeling.

Thanks for your comment on my "linear Bikes" . I was not joking though. If you would like to see how it is done, copy and paste this URL and check it out. http://www.rit.edu/~andpph/text-strip-basics.html

"Hey,hey, look at me, Mom! What a big turkey I am!...Ooops, I sprained my ankle"
I'm sorry, Dave, but I just couldn't help it because he looks so damn dignified standing on the big rock but his feet are kindda shaky and one might slip any moment. I liked it though. You've got lots of talent. Now I know where you live "in the woods".

David; I think you've succeeded in this rather unusual and original composition. It makes a strong statement about these troubled times-- world wide. A good take I think-- this is the "universal soldier". Craig

Hi David
I think this image works well as a social comment, it emphasizes the rifle and barbed wire , the low veiw point is good too. Was the soldier willing to pose? Maybe with his back to you to remain anonymous or was the headless crop what you wanted?
You would need to be brave to ask a man with a big gun to pose for you though lol :-))

David, I would not have cut his head off, unless maybe you zoomed in tight as shown for an idea. I like your other two images much better.
