Those piles so charming here! Some earnest stick people holding up the pier so people can safely walk out over the sea. Exposure speed captured just enough detail in those waves, that's actually the thing that hits me first is those soft nice lines in the quiet tones. Gidday Michaelle. I just perused the whole velvia 50 catalogue on u.f., researching for a landscape shot I want to do. This is the last (thus the first) and a fitting close to a journey (begining).

David, Actually, I believe your policy for not reading the previous comments before you critique is absolutely wonderful... It prevents your view from being biased in any way by the previous critiques, and lets you concentrate on the image without alot of "external chatter". Thank you for taking the time to write up your wonderful critique, and of course I would never take such a well thought out critique as anything but constructive.
Thank you, again, Michaelle

Hi Michaelle,
This is a terriffice picture and I can't understand how can get 162 views and only 9 comments, something isn't quite right here. The shutter speed explains the hazy waves, but did you do any other work in Photoshop?
My only criticism (and I hope you will find it constructive) is that I would have liked to see the pier slightly higher up the shot.
Thanks for you comment on my Stargate shot I have left a note for you against that picture.
Best regards, DGr

Michaelle:
Forgive me for dragging this out, but I had to let you know I think this is great. Has a real dreamy quality. If you wanted to try and improve it at all, I'd go with Vincent's advice on more separation.

Soft yet sharp. The look of the sun parallel to the docks gives it a fantasy-ish feel - you get the impression that you'll never just see this walking along the beach someday, and for me personally, that adds a lot of intrigue to a photo like this. Tidy quality work, I'd say.

I too like what you have created with the soft colors. Personally though, I think this might be even better...without the pier. Or, at least a bit more separation could do the trick. Still, a very nice image!

Sebastiaan, Thank you for your comment. I did use PS to just desaturate the colors a little to give it more of a warm feeling. Other than that and the standard unsharp mask, no other PS work.
