i disagree that this is "not a photo". you saw something you liked and you captured it (there are famous photographers that go to galleries and photograph what is on the walls and reproduce it slap it on another gallery wall!). If you want to keep it, then it does its job. but if you really like what you see and want the photo to reflect your feelings or the culture or the time period, then find a way to take an environmental portrait of this part of the paper... maybe with a reflection or on a table or in someones hand. or give it some natural border - a spoon and a cell phone or a condom on the sides... some element that places it. the hearts are great, and a womans hand on the side with fingernails the same red color might work. overlay another photo over it that contrasts it.. what is it you like about it? there is always a way to make it work as a photo. it would be a nice polaroid transfer too, or printed on a block of wood and used as a table, or silk screened on a t shirt with some snappy catch phrase.. i photograph everything i like, even if its not the best photo on its own - you can always find an artistic use (and a side note, i have never seen an aussi paper, so this is my first time...).
I like the concept and your message stands out from the paper but I would try to obscure the rest as its just a distraction. Crop tighter and not make it the centre of your image, a more abstract angle and perhaps blurring and vignetting out other erroneous information. Well spotted though, I wonder if J went to the kerb.
I get the idea you were trying here but I agree with Ray, this really isn't a photo at all. I guess because a camera was used to "copy" it could be called a photo. Now that being said, what were you going for here? What type of help would you like? I really am not trying to be rude just asking. I think you did a good job adding the red letters but that is really all that there is here. If you wanted to make the shot better you could have staged a still life, make the paper look like its resting on a plate or table waiting to be read. Maybe put some reading glasses around the paper to give the appearance that it was just read. I guess what I am saying is there was a lot that could have been done here instead what the image looks now is it just came off the copier.
I looked at the rest of your portfolio and you have some really nice work there, you just missed on this one.
Sorry you feel my comment a little "harsh". You asked for help. I could have sugar coated it. "Good idea, well seen, nice use of macro techniques, blah, blah, blah". Would that have helped more.

It *could* work as a photo, but I think you need to be a bit more clear on the subject. Obviously you've seen something interesting/humourous about this section of the paper, but it's difficult for the viewer to figure out what it is. Is it the passage in red ink? If so, what should it mean to us? Is there a link between that passage and something else in the shot? There's just not enough information to let the viewer in on what's going on. Of course, you don't have to spell it out letter-by-letter, but we do need a hint.
Technically, I congratulate you on your exposure and getting a good level on an object that is usually high in contrast.
