I believe this shot was about a 1 minute exposure; I took a handful of photos that evening, and this is the best one. I've never taken night shots of this type before -- it was actually my first time even seeing the northern lights -- so I'm fairly pleased with how it turned out. Any suggestions for better night photos and night sky photos are greatly appreciated!
Susie -- this was taken in Springfield, Ohio (or rather just north of it to avoid city lights), which is in the south-west area of the state. When I took this photo, the sky had actually faded a bit...it was quite faint, but the long exposure really made the sky glow! Thanks for your comments!
This one is really good Scott. Why you haven't gotten more credit it for it I don't know. The Auora was really amazing up here in Montana. As far as suggestions for night sky photos - do what do - experiment. It seems to work. Post more as I am a night sky buff.
