What can you do about the tangled branches :)) It's Ontario, the forests are tangled everywhere, can't get away form them :)))

I am not entirely sure about the tangled effect of the shadows of the driftwood and the branches; they seem cluttered. (Although why I complain about that, I'll never know. Nature isn't always picture-book perfect.)
I have a friend from Iowa (who is used to squared patches of nature with no trees and nices rows of dirt, grain, or hay) who upon a visit to the north woods said "I know I am supposed to think this is pretty but it just looks messy to me."
I also had to smile when I saw your photo because the title is all it took for me to take a look at it. I always flip to November to see what the calendar photo is because November is my birth month. Usually, they pick a bleak photo, which brings me to a nice aspect of this photo. I like your vision of the tone and light of November.

I like the color tones very much, hard to do well and you did very well. The angle is good as well as the setting. Nice work.
To answer your question on your comment about my picture, there is a large bend in the river and it looks deceptive, east was where the the sun was rising, west was to my right when I took the picture.
