Craig, I think your photos could form the basis of a beautiful, slightly off-beat illustrated book on Japan. This one, for certain, deserves a place in such a book. About the only thing I find in the least questionable is a sense that the horizon is sloping up to the right. Looking carefully at it, I see that it's actually the cloud ceiling that is sloping up. The surface of the sea appears to be level. Strange effect, though. Getting back to the best bits, they must surely be the boulders of your title. They are ideal for adding a sense of scale and enhancing the perspective.
