Very nice colors. I guess the only thing I would comment on is perhaps a little more foreground in the shot. I took one similar that is attached and the fog helped out to reduce the visible number of tree trunks in the background. Really like those colors!

Hi, Derek,
Nice shot! I'm living in Toronto, and I guess it is time for me to catch some colors of the fall too! I like this composition, and I also agree with Kim's suggestions. A wider lens, a different angle, put something at the foreground... It is a very photogenic scene, and certainly worth of your going back and taking more shots!

I like this very much - the mass of colors, the repeating tree trunks, and the way you've eliminated the sky. It's the quieter side of fall, for me, and very inviting. :) I'm ready to shuffle through those leaves...

This looks like a great, magestic location, but unfortunately, for me, this angle is very blunt and not doing the image justice. Did you try any closer, or getting more under the tree? As well, the image looks a little soft. It could be the scan though. What you have captured is a static, yet pretty, image of trees. But there is no emotion in it for me.
I hope I don't sound super harsh. I am just trying to point out some things that might make your image stand out from the others. I'm pretty sure that the Coolpix has awesome macro capabilities as well, so getting in close to some of those red and yellow leaves might be an interesting study in texture as well.
Okay, I've babbled enough!
