Good Job Morgan! Good for you getting out there early..now get out there before sunrise and have even more fun. I agree it is soft..hand held? Good low angle though. I would pick a smaller patch of cracked clay. I think that too much is just too much and the point is made with less but thats my opinion. Lots of DV stuff lately - J

Thanks so much everyone for the advice, I will look up that article. After posting the picture I did realize it was very soft in the bottom, and now that you mention it I wish the shrubs weren't there... I went into Photoshop, and removed the brush, and sharpened the soft areas. I uploaded the results... not sure what I think yet.

A wonderful capture, with great texture in the salt flats and beautiful color in the sky I give it a 5x7

Morgan, I like the shot and am impressed with the sky. For some reason (to me), the lighting distracts from the essence of the photo. Focus seems a bit soft on the near salt plains - have you tried USM?

This image has great lighting! The immediate foreground is not as sharp as it could be. Complete DOF would be better IMHO. See the attached file to see what a little sharpening will do to improve this file. Zooming in on the immediate foreground might make for a stronger image. Actually it looks like the foreground or background could be it's own image. The foliage off to the right is a bit distracting as this image is framed. There is a great article in the Dec. 2003 Outdoor Photographer (pp. 34) where this type of image is discussed. Zooming in on segments of this scene would make for stronger individual images. Check it out it's by William Neill.
