Chris,
Pictures (yours is a great pic)like this leave me wondering wether I should fear growing old...older people are so hard to picture..sometimes they look so forlorn or weary.. the last ten years of my parents' life I couldn't get them to smile while taking pictures...which had nothing to do with the way they felt..they just had this fixed idea of "how one was to look in the lens (or not look into the lens)".. In general I find that the pictures show a moodier atmosphere than reality really was...
